For now, there's a big question mark on the location of Punt, most scholars think it was in North Sudan & Eritrea & possibly Djibouti for various reasons. Plus, i doubt the Puntites are the direct ancestors of Somalis.

Anyways, hopefully archaeological work is done in the Horn to uncover Punt.

Ethiopia/Eritrea could be the location but keep in mind that there’s been very little archaeological work done in somalia so we don’t know too much regarding our ancient history

The Puntites were proto Lowland East Cushitic and the ancestors of Somali, Afar, Saho etc.

The crazy part is that, in the first study they assumed that the Hamadryas baboons in Somalia would share genetic cluster with those in Yemen, an isolated troop across the sea. It defies logic and luckily they were disproven in the follow up study.
