Do not change the history, there was not annihilation process our country was more than enough for us ( 5 million at that time). Plus north was semi desert area and most tribes were busy in relocating to south(the rich area). SNM were militia who were trained in Ethiopia and got funded from Ethiopia to invade their country. I'm amazed at the disregard for common sense. Siyad Barre was a dictator. A dictator is someone who is unelected and who rules by force. This leads to hostility and always never ends in a good way. Just look at the end result manne. Somalia is fucked up real good. If that regime was wise and unselfish it would have used wisdom to change course right around 1982. We only knew our clan's little animal grazing land. It was only when the Whitemen came that we woke up to nationalism and statehood but it was out of necessity. " Siad Barre and Mengistu held a second meeting in April 1988, at which they signed a peace agreement and formally reestablished diplomatic relations. Both leaders agreed to withdraw their troops from their mutual borders and to cease support for armed dissident groups trying to overthrow the respective governments in Addis Ababa and Mogadishu.

Fighting not only intensified in the north over the next eighteen months, but also spread throughout the country, forcing an estimated 800,000 Somalis to seek refuge in Ethiopia."
