Was watching the 2006 film, Little Miss Sunshine, the other night. In the film, there was a scene where the edgy teen of the film, takes a vow of silence, until he achieves his aim of becoming some sort of pilot.....he gets that idea from German Philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche.
So, I asked my cadaan mate (who's into this sort of thing) if I could join him in his fortnightly meetup, with other keen Philosophers. Before the meetup, I went to Waterstones bookstore and picked up Nietzsche's paperback, Thus Spoke Zarathustra.
The plan was simple:
Go to the Meetup, and not utter a single word.
Silence, pure silence, was all they were to get from me.
Oh boy, the way they were falling head over heels for me.....I would simply, lift up the book and place my hand on my heart. I let them slowly work out, that I was (obviously not) not happy with the world and life, and by not engaging in it by speaking, it's getting the silence treatment.
One woman, asked for my phone and proceeded to save her number and ring herself.....I blocked and deleted her promptly as soon as I got in. Last thing I want is one of those women......she also had crazy eyes, and that's a no-go for me.
