This is sad. Even though he’s a Kafir and we can’t pray for him after he passed away, Jerry Springer was a legend and huge part of our childhood entertainment.

I always thought Jerry Springer Show took advantage of lower-class people. I don't know how that reflects on the guy, but his hysterical flagrant entertainment platform was, to a degree, unethical. It was exploitative exhibitionism that highlighted the dynamics of undignifying situations with a relationship with mockery and enjoyment from spectators. The audience always seems more put together and well-off than the objects of laughter, who we are quick to forget are no lesser humans. Each of those people has to go home and deal with being laughed at like caricatures. Not to mention, the audience laughs yet thinks they have the inherent moral high ground. It is very bizarre when you think about it.

Jerry seemed like an alright old man on the surface, and I have to admit I have laughed at his stuff in the past, yet there was always the weird thing I knew was wrong. I don't think those shows inspire anything good for society. I bet you could write a terrifying script inspired by his show that put things into perspective in a dystopian setting straight out of Black Mirror.

Viewing it from a certain angle, Jerry cunningly created a framework where issues of the class divide were highlighted. One class is higher than the other where the people laughing feel they are different from them because they can laugh -- the more I laugh mean the greater distinction between me and them (my life is no were near ideal, but at least I am not like them, right? (probably not that conscious)). This also means that the entertainment program is not for the ultra-high-net-worth class because the socioeconomic conditions are too separate.
