Same story with South Korea, the people worked so hard to make their country economic powerhouses and secure a place for their people in the world that they forgot about future generations. Both of these countries are also extremly ethnically homogeneous, so any forms of immigration will be met with opposition.
Working conditions are terrible tho remember watching a video of a day in the life of a salary man and he was basically working all day. They have no real time to explore their options and when they do have a child who will take care of it? They're placing their bets on AI and robotics to service the country, which I can see happening.

They work long hours but have such low productivity. Anything beyond 7 hours is a hit on productivity. If you watched the video there is a guy who says after he's done with work he goes drinking with his boss can't say no to save face. He has a hard time keeping up with his boss who drinks so much. The whole work culture is strange.
I should open a day care there to help with their work life lol
