Jacob Frey defeats Omar Fateh in the 2025 Minneapolis Mayoral Election

@Gracias And all the other brothers and sisters who've been wailing about our community, I apologize to you. This shit is outlandish:

Y'all are insane. Why does some cadaan politician running for Mayor in Minneapolis know what a gobol like Galmudug is or to name a city like Bosaso?! Ceeb calayk, yakhi.

:damn:
If you read the pursuit of the Mullah by the cadaan colonial Askari. He listed some positive traits of Somalis. The worst trait he identified was impulsivity. He saw it in the heat of battle. On a political level, many Somalis suffer from tribal impulsivity (irrational and emotive clan centric clan bias). Hopefully, it will die down with the next generation. Even if this didn’t cause the loss, it is still embarrassing for cadaans to know about Somali bringing these divisiv issues into public.

I do not really care when cadaans poke at our tribalism because at the end of the day, they will forget this incident and focus on something new in 1-2 weeks. I an convicted of this!

It’s not about what cadaans think. It limits what people can achieve. Negroes fight over mosques and open masjid run by their qabils. Qabil fascism and black Zionist are two sides of the same coin.

No it won’t, it will get worse, gen z are as qabilist as fobs

The reason he lost wasn’t because of Somalis or qabil , he actually got most of the Somali vote. Even if every Somali voted against him, it wouldn’t have mattered; they’re less than 1% of the total electorate. It would have mattered more if it was a local city council election where he was running in a ward with a heavy Somali population. So Somalis going crazy all over the web are doing it for nothing, to be honest. Waa dad iska hadlaya.

Most of his votes came from non-Somalis. Despite his soft-spoken demeanor, he was able to build a broad grassroots coalition that cut across every demographic, and he reached people with far less funding. He’s very popular and respected across the city council, county offices, and the state legislature, and he’s known for working collaboratively with other candidates

The real reason he lost is because a significant number of stubborn, wealthy suburban whites voted for Frey, and the entire Democratic establishment was against him. They blocked him from receiving the DFL endorsement, even though the Minneapolis DFL itself was behind him. Even Governor Tim Walz and other establishment Democrats endorsed Jacob Frey. They basically collaborated with the right wing against him.

With zero support and zero endorsement from the establishment, this dude still came incredibly close and that alone is impressive. Running on a people-centered platform is a winning strategy, and liberals are scared of that. Fateh coming that close to victory against a long-tenured incumbent might honestly be more impressive than Zohran winning an open race with a universally hated opponent.

That guy waa geesi geesi dhalay , he ran such a positive and inspiring campaign while facing so much vitriol and bigotry. It speaks to his courage and focus on his mission.

In the grand scheme of things, it’s still a victory for him. He remains a state senator, which is technically a higher position than mayor, and all legislation passes through him and his colleagues. Many of the progressive candidates who ran alongside him won seats in city hall, on the school board, and on the county commission, creating a strong progressive supermajority that will challenge Frey and override his vetoes. It’s going to be a nightmare for Frey the next 4 years. Meanwhile, Omar has built even greater recognition for himself, so the next time he runs, he’ll be coming back stronger.

Just to show that he ultimately won in the grander scheme of it all:

This was part of his whole campaign: There is now a progressive majority now in all 3 of them

It was never about Darood iyo Qabil for Ilhan Omar or Omar Fateh it was always about pushing progressive driven candidates and policies to the forefront.

The Indian woman they keep getting salty about is one of the majority of progressive city council that endorsed him and she went out to campaign for his election as Mayor as well:

Neighborhood where majority of Somalis live voted overwhelmingly for Omar Fateh.

It's always interesting to see results like this. Even the recent Mamdani vote and early overall elections and how it seems like it's actually the Latinos who turned the tide. All these chronically online people really need to realize Twitter/X has very little bearing on what really happens electorally. Real life material conditions and messaging is still king.

social media is overlapping with real life politics. this is the possible next republican candidate.

I am not trying to down play it when i said it , it literally is whites that tip the scale. Even that progressive democrat Mikie Sheryll who was elected as governor of New Jersey most whites voted against her. But she got a large majority from Latino's. New jersey is a Democrat stronghold btw.

There is nothing Somalis can do really, misinformation gets turbo charged on X which has been over taken by white/christian nationalists and by the right wing who love spinning this.

Don't waste your breath on it.

This is good way to show it . If you look up other neighborhoods Somalis are scattered into it would also help prove it further.

But it also shows you how large the turn out was. They came out in droves for him to push him to a close margin of victory.
