ITALY ON TRACK TO RECOVER ASSETS EXPROPRIATED IN SOMALIA AFTER 1991

Italy apparently wants to lay claim to properties and farms owned by The Italian government companies and citizens in Southern Somalia.

Landmark buildings such as the now destroyed Mogadishu cathedral and the Italian House in pre-war Central Mogadishu bore remarkable Italian influence reflected in cinemas, bookshops, patisseries, grocers, and restaurants among other businesses that made Mogadishu a melting-pot.

It’s their stuff anyways, they built Xamar. Even Villa Somalia was their colonial governor’s house they built that. :mjkkk:

I saw some stuff about them getting back some agriculture land in which they will invest after the deals signed in the last meeting. Allahu aclam if there’s anything substantial to this.

These thieves own nothing. Did they come to South Somalia and buy farmland or did they steal it? They stole it and in addition to that, they imported Bantus from Tanzania to work on the farms. So, not only do they have to pay reparations to Somalis in general, they also own reparations to Tanzania.

But I doubt HSM and the other clowns will have the testicular fortitude to address facts.

Assets legally owned and purchased will have to be returned to them or the government will have to provide them compensation. Somalia has to respect property rights or no foreigner/company is going to invest there. Even the most peaceful parts of Somalia don't respect property rights. This is serious. Your own brother will steal from you and the kangaroo courts drag it out for years. I am not going to comment on the cathedral and others but peoples' homes must be provided back to them.

>The Italian Embassy in Mogadishu maintains a register of assets belonging to Italian citizens, the Government of Italy, Italian companies, or the Vatican. “Meloni will persuade President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to take steps to help Italians to recover their assets expropriated in Somalia” said a former MP in Mogadishu, who requested anonymity.

They know what belongs to them so they won't make any ridiculous claim tbh

Italy is weak, the destroyed Mogadishu cathedral should be turned into a Masjid and those farms were taken from the Somali People, Italy should repay Somalia for all the stuff they exported, the bananas alone is the millions forget all the other raw materials like leather, ivory, ect.

E,U and Italy cant bully us anymore HSM might be president but the AK47 is still king.

If this was Farmajo you’d be screaming from the rooftops. I can’t believe this shithole is about to be treated like the way the French treat their former slaves.

I heard the most destitute of families have taken over many homes that many diaspora folk didn't even bother taking back their properties during the ICU era. It wasn't moryaans. People from here flew all the way to Mogadishu and knocked on doors to find disabled ayeyos and 10 hungry children living in their childhood homes. A home was even turned into an orphanage. The government will fail. It will be a PR disaster and Al Shabab will salivate. Better to give the Italians market value compensation.
