Certain traditional notions about gender are still held onto in a culture that is working to become gender neutral. Which places us in an odd situation.
For instance, it's still commonplace to state that a man should always pay for the bill during a date. But, in today's society, where both men and women are financially independent, that is no longer logical.
I wish society could simply choose between gender neutrality and traditional beliefs. Because if you don't, situations like this occur, which leave everyone in confusion.
