I have great friends and I'd be depressed if I was rich and didn't have them. I also have great family. My half sister is Christian and we haven't disowned her, despite how religious we are which shows how close we all are. I actually don't want for anything but I would be happy if I could write full time and not work.

My best Somali friend is drifting further away from the diin. She stopped wearing hijab and only has gaalo friends that she drinks with. What can I do to get her back? She used to pray and guide people but now she is lost and I miss the old her. I don't judge her and we're still close but I will have to cut her loose if she doesn't change because she said she didn't believe 'in organised religion' any more which is so out of character. This is the same girl who used to debate people on the diin. I miss her.

There's a limit for everything in life. Higher income does have an effect on happiness but only to certain point. A middle class person who saves up and plans his vacation on a budget can get as much satisfaction as a millionaire who travels worwide in luxury. I'm not more happier now than when I used to live in Djibouti although I can afford to travel and buy many things I wasn't able to back home. Once your income affords you a comfortable life, having more doesn't usually make you more happier.

I agree with this, I don't think money can fill a void. After a certain amount, it doesn't really matter. A lot of wealthy folks don't seem to grasp this.

One study showed that additional income makes people happier up to a certain point. When people don't have to worry about how they'll pay the next bill, a major source of unhappiness is removed. Over a certain point ($75,000 a year in this study), extra money doesn't seem to make people happier.

As income decreased from $75,000, respondents reported decreasing happiness and increasing sadness and stress.

Beyond $75,000 in the contemporary United States, however, higher income is neither the road to experienced happiness nor the road to the relief of unhappiness or stress, although higher income continues to improve individuals’ life evaluations.”
