Kinda crazy that Iran never ended up buying any advanced Russian fighter jets all these years.

BRICS constantly posture as an alternative to US power, yet its silence is deafening as Iran is being encircled and threatened with state collapse by Israel-US-G7 axis.
There is no anti-imperial bloc, nor are they any challenge to the current US-led Liberal economic order. What exists are states seeking leverage to renegotiate their position with in this system.

Russia doesnt want to, it's not like Iran hasn't tried. For years they have tried to purchase advanced Russian fighter jets and air defence systems but haven't been successful. They should have pivoted to the Chinese like Pakistan, but Iran doesn't think they're advanced enough.
No country is willing to stick it's neck out for Iran. They should have developed those nukes when they had the chance. Realistically if Iran was strong this wouldn't have happened.
True, Iran isn't exactly playing from a position of strength but that's the whole point when shit actually needss to be done the supposed western resisitence front is nowhere to be seen as another one of their allies gets destabilised by the US
They've been under heavy sanctions for over 40 years. Their air defense is not bad. It is just that there is no such thing as 100% air defense system that can stop everything. This war has proven that. The yahuud have multiple layers of advance air defense as well as getting help from the U.S. and it's allies to try to stop Iranian missiles. And still lots of them are going through all of those multiple layers of defense systems.
