Does this apply to the Syrians that rebeled against the Alawites and were supported by the US and ISR?
Iran belongs to Persians, just like Somalia belongs to Somalis. Nothing wrong with them having cultural and political dominance over non-Persian groups. However there is no such thing as Sunni oppression. As for the claim they're economically marginalized, well they're richer and more prosperous than every non oil Arab state population.

As for Syria, Iran were right to support Assad because it's in their geopolitical interest. Just like North Korea would be supported by China if there was a green revolution backed by the US. However, Alawites are a small minority who were oppressing the larger majority Sunni Arab population.

Any group who join the ranks of Israel and USA to destroy the ancient Persian civilization are murtadeen. There is no comparison with Syria. Only valid comparison would be how the treacherous Arabs sided with the European colonialists to destroy the Ottoman Empire. And we see how that has turned out 100 years later. Iran is the last and only stronghold which is preventing centuries of Israeli domination of the Middle East.

U.S. President Trump answered additional questions earlier from reporters about Iran during the G7 Summit in Canada, with him stating, “I want to see no nuclear weapon in Iran, and we’re well on our way to making sure that happens.” Asked if he believed Israel could suppress the nuclear threat posed by Iran without U.S. help, Trump responded: “It’s irrelevant. Something’s going to happen.”
