They're even asking to go back to the negotiating table with the U.S. after dilly dallying throughout the first talks. They were not expecting this

Israel has already lost three F-35I fighters, which are fifth-generation stealth aircraft. Meanwhile, Iran still uses fighters from the 1970s. However, instead of trying to obtain a subpar fighter, Iran has invested in weapon systems capable of shooting down Israeli aircraft.
Iran possesses around 3,000 ballistic missiles, each capable of carrying a payload of 350 to 750 kg, with ranges exceeding 1,000 km. They also employ drones and slower rockets to overwhelm Israel's Iron Dome defence system, while utilising hypersonic ballistic missiles to strike their targets.
