Is Africa hopeless? Africa is the face of poverty, every other continent has at least one or a few countries that are successful, Asia has Japan, Europe has Western Europe, North America has the USA, South America has Uruguay.

Whilst Africans that live in or grow up in the West as a whole do not seem to be doing as well either, with recent Asian immigrants outperforming us, with higher employment rates & higher salaries, meanwhile Africans in the West are more likely to be overrepresented in crime statistics.

People from Africa do not have a good reputation no matter how much some of us want to deny this.

Yet Africa is the one continent where there is not a single successful country. Not a single country can be pointed to as an example of a first world, developed nation. Why is this? Why has Africa failed? It has dozens of countries yet they're all poor, in civil war or on the brink of collapse. Africa is the face of poverty & failed states.

What's the real reason? Is it the Cold War? Colonialism?

The day these artificial states are gone is when Africa will succeed, 21st century is the great reckoning for Africa.

It’s is unfair and down right silly to compare first world nations to African countries. These developed nations have had centuries to get to where they are today. Every one of them (if not most of them) going through a civil war might I add. You also have to factor in the amount of interference from foreign nations, from colonisation to theft of natural resources via proxy wars. These are not theories but a reality. The western world was built on the back of African and Asian resources. A perfect example would be Niger and Mali and the hell they have gone through with France at the helm of their misery.

The status quo will continue to happen until the people themselves rise up and get rid of the corrupt government and their masters.

Maybe but we'd also be cursed with a population boom like most other Sub Saharan countries, too many mouths to feed when the country is only starting to grow.

IQ is correlated with poverty levels and malnutrition, if Somalia becomes a stable country in maybe 2 centuries we'll definitely have a higher average IQ

Environment is a factor and so is malnutrition. But even if you account for all of this its not hitting near 100.
