Some do and some don't. All of my brothers and sisters are married to other somalis in the same city, there was no need to look back to the dalka. Depends on a person's preferences tbh..

Honestly, our parents didn't leave a good impression of what an ideal marriage should look like. The happy somali marriages among the older generation I've seen are extremely rare which might explain the scepticism and hesitancy of somalis guys show in getting married. So why would you settle for a girl that will one day become a roommate you're just tolerating? Too many somali marriages consist of yelling and no love. I would recommend avoiding that.
