Is the fake birthday dates common among Somalis?...

I just saw this tweet, and it looks like some Somalis got fake birth dates, due to them being immigrant, never been told the time they were born.

Some only remember their birthdates from seasons only (gu' xagaa, deyr, jilaal) ,
some remember their birthdays according to presidential election, , events, wars, etc..

Which brings me to conclusion that, Is there any of you who doesn't know the date they were born? i know mine alx...


Does it have to do with, before 80s or even 1990s people? Or maybe this quote

Somalis dont celebrate birthdays. So January 1st is like any other day. At least their children in the west wont have January 1st. There is hope

We came to America in 1999 so i was two years old i think

Only people from Somalia who had no papers or birth certificates. This also quite common for older people in the west, many people were born in a house and not a hospital and their "real birthday" isnt whats on their papers.

My dad has his official birthday but my mum is a fake one.

I would say its more common than you think for fake bdays less so among those born in the late 90s/00s.
