Is Somalia part of Puntland or is Puntland part of Somalia

Puntland predates Somalia on three distinct accounts. Firstly, lets break it down in antiquity, the Land of Udug, dating back to circa 2500 BCE, existed long before the conception of a Somali nation for sure,, although its precise boundaries may have differed, the region we now identify as Puntland was already established. Secondly, the Majeerteen Sultanate a kingdom essentially constituting a Puntland kingdom preceded Italian Somalia and subsequently became an Italian protectorate later on Thus, in this historical context, Puntland existed prior to the formation of Somalia. Thirdly, the modern Puntland government was established in 1998, whereas Somalia’s govt was formally constituted only in 2000 in Carta and only recognised by the US in 2012 Subsequently colonel, Abdullahi Yusuf, former President of Puntland, founded the Transitional Federal Government and relocated to Mogadishu, ef fectively extending Puntland’s political authority into the capital. By this reasoning, Mogadishu may be considered, in practical terms, an extension of Puntland. Therefore, we can honestly say that Puntland is not a constituent part of Somalia rather, Somalia, in its contemporary form, constitutes a part of Puntland indeed, who dissagrees with this then,

Puntland is not a part of Somalia but a part of the Somali republic and the Somali nation, whose interests have nothing to do with Villa “Somalia” and the Halane Regime
