I want to raise this interesting observation in human groups across the world. Their always a 'ruling elite' class, ethnicity, clan, or whatever and then there is underclass below them. This under-class tends to always be 'destructive' and '24/7' mentally thinking about destroying this 'ruling elite'. Their politics is always the same not what they can 'do' for themselves or others but concentrated around destroying this 'ruling elite' class. It seems their core identity circulates around proving themselves at all cost to the ruling class.
I see this symptom very strong in hawiye-dir-isaaq clans. Remember it's a 'symptom' so we can evaluate which clan tends to show strong indicators. Hawiye/Dir never talk about what legacy they leave behind in the nation so their kids can 'boast' about it, they focus on attacking darod in their land as if they need to 'prove' themselves to us. Their politics is the same they all unite under 'irir' to counter 'darod' who they must see as the 'ruling elite'. They always get affirmative action such as 4.5, where it's bloated into their favor.
I never see Darods ever trying to prove themselves to Irir. In-fact the older darods they don't say it 'outloud' like white people don't, but they feel they have some 'pan somali responsibility' for non darod clans, as if we are some 'master' class, but they won't say that becuz of 'political correctness' iyo 'ceeb culture developed post 1960'.
I mean when u read the somali anthem it clearly says 'taageera kuwina taag darane' which means support those inferior among you, where-as in the past before pan-somalism, they would naturally be treated as an 'underclass la yaso'.
