Interesting discussion, I'm leaning towards no, for me it depends on maternal ancestry, but I'm defs avoiding families who have a history of cousin marriages, hell nah to that.

It was considered incest a century ago. Somalis would avoid marrying up to their sixth cousin. For example a garxajis in a border region in sanaag would avoid marrying another garxajis instead courting a Warsangeli or Magaadle

No clans are often huge. You have to think that most clans were established hundreds of years ago and thus there a many braches. Now if you were to marry you first cousin then there could be issues, though successive generations must marry first cousins for it to be extremely dangerous.


At this point most people marry whoever. Whether they're in your clan or not isn't much of a issue since we're all spread across the globe now.
