Is it true Kismayo was the 3rd largest city pre civil war ?

I’ve heard this multiple times can anybody confirm how important was the city pre civil war era

Kismaayo was tiny pre-civil war, so the original Reer Kismaayo all know each other by family names, but it was indeed the 3rd capital.

But to be honest prior to the civil war we didn't have slums like we do today, all the towns were alot smaller including Mogadishu and Hargaisa.

Forget the country, Kismaayo would be a international hub for trade, tourism, education etc if Darood set aside their differences and united.

We are talking about a place with unlimited potential, and Darood is a huge clan and a resourceful people just one issue stops this and its the cuqdad of older generations.

Kismayo is fine now. Cheese has been deposed and Irir have long lost hope in JL. Everyone has accepted the status quo of a duopoly Darood JL and kablalax monopoly over Kismayo

We just need to increase trade with NFD Gedo and then one day SR.

Lets be real the status quo is very unstable and elections being around the corner doesn't make matters better. At any moment HSM can retract that recognition Farmaajo granted Madoobe because the administration is nothing more than a weak dictatorship lead by a foreign backed despot who is basically illegal and hated by everyone. Even though I despise Madoobe I would much rather he be removed by a Darood than a Shisheeye.

As for your remark about monopoly, to be honest I could careless if an Cagdheer was president of JL and held the keys to Kismaayo port for eternity what matters to me is stability and prosperity.

Unlike you who suffers from cuqdad, fear and scarcity mentality I don't give crap about all that and political position is literally what beggars go for. I care about unlocking the massive potential of JL which can only happen with more cohesion within Darood.
