To put it simply, South Africa is one of the lowest educated countries in the OECD, primarily due to majority of its voting age population being unable to attend school due to apartheid. The university attainment rate for Blacks is approx 4% and Whites is 23%. As we know, people who are less educated are more likely to believe lies spouted by politicians and will vote for the one that seems to resemble/represent them.

The ANC is a black-run party that gave them their freedom. Out of 3 major parties in SA, there is the ANC, there is the white-led Democratic Alliance and the Marxist-Leninist EFF.

If you are an uneducated person from Sth. Africa, you will most likely vote for the ANC out of those three options.
