are you stupid? Counterfeit currency has been circulating in Somalia for decades now. Take a fake bill, buy some gum, the vendor will have no clue it’s counterfeit and he’ll do the same. Eventually it’ll just be absorbed in the economy.

It’s not that no one attempted it yet, it’s that no one has caught on yet.

look at this, one of the bills is counterfeit. Unless you have certain tools or knowledge to differing them, you’d be clueless. I’m pretty sure both are tender in Somalia.

I was given a fake $100 bill in xamar, nacala, it’s the easiest way to scam Europeans. The local restaurant owner where I ate often gave me $60 for it. This was back in 2016. I reckon it’s very common in circulation.
