You have a good reason to not pay blood money if your cousin killed someone intentionally but if your talking about cases involving serious injuries or death such as car accidents for ex where your cousin is at fault, then it's a big ceeb to refuse paying blood money.

I would never pay blood money.

In an ideal world the killer would be given a fair trial and sentenced accordingly. The entire concept of paying blood money is medieval trash which reinforces tribalism and puts weaker/smaller clans at risk. Additionally, this gives effective immunity to clans that can afford blood money payments. This disastrous situation where the strong are in control and benefit from the status quo, leaving little incentive to bring change.

The only defence against tribalism is strong civic institutions which defends the rights of the individual, so that they do not have to rely on the oppressive clan structure for justice or representation.
