It is a bit strange that Greco-Roman writers constantly associated the Kushites of Meroe with the ancient Egyptians:

They say also that the Egyptians are colonists sent out by the Ethiopians, Osiris having been the leader of the colony. For, speaking generally, what is now Egypt, they maintain, was not land but sea when in the beginning the universe was being formed; afterwards, however, as the Nile during the times of its inundation carried down the mud from Ethiopia, land was gradually built up from the deposit. Note: The "Ethiopians" in that text are actually the Kushites; the Aksumites co-opted that name in the 4th Century AD.

Its crazy to think how the hunter gatherer population became mostly extinct. Do you know how much of our dna is HOA hunter gatherer and does it differ from ethiopians.

The ones in Somalia are totally extinct and have been absorbed by ethnic Somalis. They no longer exist. They split from the Ethiopian ones about 20,000-15,000 years ago. HGs tend to have bigger genetic distances between themselves than agricultural populations (like the Cushite agropastoralists). It is about 10% to 12% in most Somalis.
