If I was moroccan..

I love the fact that you’re zealous in terms of defending Somalis and Somalinimo but avoiding realities will get you no where.

I appreciate your point, and I want to clarify something, I don't avoid reality. I confront it directly. I actively study a wide range of topics, and through that process, I often come across distorted narratives or misrepresentations of Somalis. That’s made me more sympathetic, not because I ignore issues, but because I see how often their story is told without nuance or fairness.

My approach is to understand the realities fully , the challenges and the progress , and to walk away with either insight or solutions. I believe credit should be given where it's due, especially when people are making strides despite difficult circumstances.

What I find more troubling is how many others actually avoid reality by trying to flatten Somali identity into a caricature , lumping Somalis into lazy generalizations or interpreting their culture through frameworks that don’t fit. Often, these narratives reflect personal biases, identity insecurity, or projection more than any serious analysis.

Rather than trying to understand Somalis within the context of their own unique history, conditions, and global dynamics, people borrow cultural frameworks from unrelated communities , be it South Asian, Arab, or African , and impose them onto Somalis. That kind of thinking is reductive, and I’d expect it more from misinformed bigots or internet culture warriors, not from my fellow Somalis, who should be more invested in understanding ourselves with depth and accuracy.
