Some Somalis call themselves African Americans, usually second generation and the ones who are immersed in their culture. But the vast majority are aware that we’re black African Somali and not African American

That’s what I noticed too. Lots of Black brits talk shit about African Americans but love appropriating their culture while denying them access to Carribean and African culture. It’s very hypocritical.

They have co-opted their struggles, movements, sounds, slang etc. while carrying the quintessential British arrogance.

There are many unique aspects and firm Caribbean roots, but for the most part it is watered down Afram culture misnomed as black culture.

black people in america have the most crabs in a bucket mentality i have ever seen. show me any other race complaining about foreigners of the same race playing roles. blacks in america are used to scraps and nothing and it shows. all these blacks in the uk that they are complaining about took drama GCSE, then went to sixthform or college for drama courses, then went to a specialised drama college where they teach traditional acting and shakesperean inspired drama, then had to work in the theatre or intern in media, then had to move to america.... all the while black americans who havent finished high school and not gone college want acting role lmao. the best qualified will always get the role. every uk actor playing an american is usually done well to the point you couldn't even tell, just shows their prowess. if i were to pursue acting and there was a specific somali american role, would somali americans get pissed off too? hopefully not unless you guys have adopted this victim mentality and inferiority complex too
