Refugee one color-coded for SL (green), PL (red), and FGS (blue) IDP one not colorshaded because I cannot determine what side of Mudug and Sanaag has more IDPs. Mudug put into PL here (even tho it's split) because according to anecdotal evidence, most refugees are in PL Mudug. Same for Sanaag where anecdotal evidence shows most refugees are in SL Sanaag..

IDPs are Somalis being displaced around Somalia, refugees are non-Somalis coming into Somalia

majority of refugees from Ethiopia and Yemen
Sxb it's gone get worse in the coming 1_3 years. Instead of only Yemen as Arab we gone have a whole assortment of Arab coming from gulf to Jordan. I knew there always Ethiopian we can't help that due to border problems. Now the problem is "idle hands are the devil workshop" . What are they planning to use these immigrants for ? For instance highway construction or farming any hard labor that requires a lot of man hours?

Immigrants go into the cities and do city jobs, the government has nothing to do with this really- the labor market does.

The Kacaan era ended years ago- employment is not directed by the government! What SL and PL gain from this influx is lower wages, more production, and lower costs.

I am a data analyst, are 1M Banadiri going to SL? or are 1M Refugees going to Banadir?
Chart 1 shows where IDP's are (so if somebody got booted from a place and moved to another place as a refugee, it shows what gobol that place is). Chart 2 shows where refugees (international!)- movement from one country to another (and the gobol they went to)

This is fake
there are not that many refugees in Hargeisa. On the contrary, drought is severely affecting eastern Somaliland, while western Somaliland receives rainfall.
A million, you're joking.
Look at Hargeisa, all the houses are built as daar while in Mogadishu most are shelters and jiingad

Did you even read the graph? The total for all refugees (from outside Somalia if you know how the UN defines things) is 45,782. When did I say there were a million refugees in Hargeyso lmfao.

The only gobol with more then a million migrants of any kind is Banaadir (vast majority of them being IDP's)

Next time read before making comments. I only color-coded the refugee pie chart because many slices were too small to be commented on, then I just decided to group them up with their administration to make commentary more accurate. Also read what I said in the post to look my primary reasoning

Great work @Mohamedamiin120
This goes to show you that Somalia is now an urbanized country with more than 50% of the population living in urban areas.

@moosaid agriculture in northwestern Somalia, Gabiley and Borama districts to be exact, is basically disappearing. That region has been in long term decline agriculturally since 2000. Bay has been in decline too, but the northwest is in free fall.

This is data from the 2014 PESS, 11 years ago. There was a massive drought in 2017 and another in 2021-2023. Urbanization has pushed millions into urban areas.
