wait so why were people saying we were going to landlock kenya? neither of those proposed borders would landlock them
Did I just hear the court say Somalia was subject to compensation from Kenya but Somalia in their oral arguments said they don’t have too?
We didn't get 100% but most of it.

No way are they making another country landlocked. At least they gave them the bare minimum to not be landlocked. Its a win, just not a perfect victory. We want 100% percent what is this bullshit. We are losing territory even in 2021!

When you come into this with the arguements that they never agreed anything, and the court should mark the border, and they give 90% to you, its a Win.
Doesn't matter. You are right but emotions don't change anything. Somalia came and said there is no border, you make a border. Therefore giving a vast majority of the disputed waters to Somalia is a win - win. Kenya tried grabing a large cake and got a small slice. They also win by not being landlocked before 200nm. But since both claim the whole shelf, once it gets to 330nm kenya is locked.the 10% they gave Kenya belongs to Somalia. Tanzania screwed Kenya over, not Somalia. They have to renegotiate with Tanzania
why does the high seas matter, from what I’m researching no one has ownership over the high seas, it’s open to any country for fishing and mineral mining purposes and some international court oversees everything that goes on in itThey will be locked from high seas.
you would not realize how annoying it is for random cadaans and ajnabis to be saying “just split it down the half and end the case already!”Kenya finessed us on some 48 laws of power shit. Ask for something ridiculous so you can get something favorable
the problem is Kenya wouldn’t be able to access the high seas without crossing foreign waters so they’re ‘landlocked’ if those foreign nations refuse to let them cross for whatever reason.why does the high seas matter, from what I’m researching no one has ownership over the high seas, it’s open to any country for fishing and mineral mining purposes and some international court oversees everything that goes on in it
even in the 200 mile economic zone we have full rights to fish and minerals but kenya can still send trading ships and navy through it
