I remember being in a masjid, and I was questionably assumed as being Oromo. He spoke to me in their language as well, and was surprised I didn't answer back. It doesn't help either that my Af Somali has been called Oromo, I come here out of curiosity for what would make someone look Oromo?

I have been mistaken for being Somali by Ethiopians, White people and Somali's too. So, I guess we resemble each other?

I have my suspicions whether Isa are even Somali. They clearly look Somali but I know Eritreans and Oromos who look Somali so that's not a good point. As a matter of fact, I have not seen a single Isa post their 23andme. I am really curious what their genetic make up is.

Isa needs to come clean about its origins even though they are allergic to the Somali label. They are also the most Somalidiid of the Somali people and tell ajnabis they are Djiboutian instead of Somalis. I had to explain to a confused Haitian guy why all the Djiboutians he knows speak Somali.

I also find it weird the French only conquered them and not other Somalis. Why does a moderate sized clan (not even a top 10 subclan by size) have its own country while the 500 others have to share 1? I think this further strengthens my argument about their questionable identity. I think at the time they abandoned their language and identity and then clinged onto the Somali identity for protection or political reasons like clans have sheegatos today. It's plausible because Somalis didn't write anything down back then.

They are heavily mixed due to border Somalis and when they were the Leaders of the somali abbo and they went to somalia and lived with Somalis even Somalis were feeling somalia during the civil they went to other countries with Somalis like Kenya and some are just somali in origin who were just assimilated during Oromo migration and some are probably the Somali Gaalo who didn’t take Islam and were pushed out of somaliland

I am not light-skinned but not dark either. I get told by most people that I look like a very typical Somali.

yeah a lot of khalijis are not as racially arab as they used to be, thats probably why they think that.

as for sudanese that makes sense, they are cushitic and have similar traits to somalis. The main difference is many of them have longer faces.
