I want to rebuild somali

Firstly, I love my country. However, the world recognises Somali as a corrupted land and it hurts everytime I hear this. My ambition is to rebuild Somali. I have been writing a manifesto since September on ways to fix Somali. I have outlined the two main problems which are holding us back. Tribalism and Al Shabab. Which countries we should form alliances with mainly being developed eastern countries ( not including the middle east as they view us as pieces of shit.) I have also been coming up ways with how to get the people of land up to date with technology and improving overall education.

Would anyone like to join me .

I would say the main problem are the people. You know the saying "You can take a horse to the water but you can't make it drink" explain Somalis so well. Just look at how they behave in the west. They live in peace and among countless of opportunities but are yet ungrateful and bottom tier (sorry not sorry). There needs to be a mental change. Something happened. There is a major generational difference between the last and the one before. Somalis back then carried honour and achieved things in their own right and Somalis today are fighting over petty disputes (that their neighbours and enemies are fueling). I would suggest for you to launch a campaign to combat the ignorance within Somalis back home. If Somalis just looked passed tribal lines and saw the bigger picture in being united trust me Alshabab would be smoked in seconds, our government would be fierce and our country would reach its possible greatest potential.

Unity is the key to stability, my friends. Sometimes I have a hard time trying to process what drives these old men back home to continue to drag our country thru the mud. Do they not care about honour? DO they realise that they are bottom tier compared to everyone else? Do they realise that they are nobodies outside of Somalia? Like nobody actually respects them!?

I am so tired of being from a shithole country. If I could do something for Somalia trust me I would, but I don't think I can (I am a woman after all). But if you can, then I wish for your success and everyone else who want to contribute to Somalia:it0tdo8:

First things first, it’s SomaliA

I've asked several people who visited back home and most of them say qabil isn't the problem for Somali's back home. I guess it differs from region to region though.

Maybe those living in Somalia or who have visited could shed a better light on these issues.

The problem is our neighbors are just as crappy as us. From neighbouring clans to nextdoor tribes. Even across the red Sea in Yemen. All suck.

In our subconscious we were the best so why change?

No impetus to improve since there's nothing to be gained. Humans are only interested in status when compared against their peers not some lofty goal of being the best overall.

You can see it all over the world. The more isolated a people the more backwards they are.

The Brits were happy eating their snot until the Franks arrived with better culinary ideas.

The Franks still worshipped trees until the Romans conquered them.

The Romans we're probably still figuring out farming until the Greeks conquored them and tought them da way.

The Irish we're still struggling in caves until humans discovered them in 1905 when the first airplane flew over.

That's my take on it. Only way forward is to integrate our culture to the global zeitgeist forcefully. Stay true to our Deen but import a lot of cultural ideas from abroad.

So that when geeljire compare themselves in the future it'll be against Germans and Indhoyar instead of Arabs and Xabashi.

The behavior of the diaspora requires a different explanation though. :cosbyhmm:

In a globalised world where we all are connected having shitty neighbours (who still, by comparison, are better) can not be used as an excuse. Somalis problem is that we have low ambitions, low standard and laziness. As an ambitious person (alas quite lazy) with high goals, having shitty neighbours would be a perfect situation for Somalia. We could use their countries as an alternative market, control them from the shadows and more. But Somalis don't think that far. They want the extensive resume without putting the actual work in. I wish I could do something. I literally spend most of my hours of the day thinking about what I could do for Somalia and how I could use current events to our advantage. I literally have documents on my onedrive where I write up the countless ideas I have had in mind.

Wouldn't the goal be to urbanise Somalia? Wouldn't it be hard for reer badiyo folks to adapt to the city life? I think someone should study the badiyo lifestyle, old Somali (pre-war) societies and extract principles that accumulate to a formula best fitted for the Somali being. If I have learned/noticed one thing is that forcing people to follow a western societal model/ideology rarely work since the people most often have a hard time adapting. We should twist and adapt models to accommodate the Somali mind. Ex. we know Somalis tend to get extra lazy when they have everything handed on a silver plate (we can see that by the scandi malis) so we should have a system that favours hard and creative workers.

When did globalization really start?

Imo it was really recent. After the internet became much more widely accessible.

Kids in Somalia today are much more ambitious and aware of the rest of the world.

However we're still highly segregated because we don't really mix with other cultures in Somalia or the diaspora.

Stuff on TV on the internet doesn't really affect how you see your place in the world.

Just look at the posts on this site. Most commentators are viewing the world as a third party not affected by things going on in their hosts countries. It's the same with most immigrant populations but even more so with us.

Only when the peers they interact with day to day are at a higher level would you see some real change.

That's why I'm rooting for Ethiopia to develop instead of hoping it stumbles.

Once we see the short midgets we use to bully do much better than us is when we start taking things seriously.

However even if there's the public sentiment to improve we still have to remove those old farts in charge who still live in the old world.

I still remember in high school praying that somalia wouldn't come up in conversations about poor countries and other shit they made us read

You are right. We've lost our pride. We don't think about how our actions will affect us in the next 5 or 10 years. But US somalis who were privileged enough to have a good education should show others the way. Also being a women shouldnt stop you from having a say. Let's be honest majority somali girls do better than somali boys in school. Your opinion matters as much as everyones elses. All great nations need great men and women.

Also let me know if this is a good idea.

I've recently watched the movie divergent. I think there are some good concepts of how a government could be run. In the movie there are these factions each faction is in charge of a certain area of the government.

One of the factions specialises in agriculture. Somali is barren land it is hard for crops to grow in certain regions. I think Beledweyne and areas around there have more fertile soil than Mogadishu. I also think we shouldnt use GMO as it has a direct link with mental health and some illness.

Another faction specialises in science and math. This is beneficial for Somalia's growth. It's better if we help each other than have another country build our cities and roads. It even says we would should help each other in our national anthem "isku tiirsada eey"

Globalisation started with cross-continental colonisations. I would say Somalis should have been motivated to excel since we got colonised. The globalisation today is in full force due to the internet that most people have access too. Yes, kids in Somalia are so aware of the world that they want to go thru hell in order to leave the shithole they were born in. They are ambitious for the right reason (i.e aspire for a better life) but see no hope for Somalia and that in itself is a problem.

However we're still highly segregated because we don't really mix with other cultures in Somalia or the diaspora. .

I agree Somalia is one of the least diverse countries in the world. But that could be an advantage in the future once we tackle our current problems. In the long run, having a high % of non-natives can lead to some societal fractions. As for the diaspora, they should integrate on a more economical scale in their host countries and strive for greatness. I think the diaspora serves as a great example of how Somalia will turn if we don't go thru underlining cultural changes.

Stuff on TV on the internet doesn't really affect how you see your place in the world.

Yes, it does, If your country is constantly represented as a shithole and other countries in the west are represented as heavens, of course, the consumer of such content would believe it. Especially when it is true and all that is around you is poverty, war and dysfunctionality. You would want to get away from that and go to heaven on earth.

Just look at the posts on this site. Most commentators are viewing the world as a third party not affected by things going on in their hosts countries. It's the same with most immigrant populations but even more so with us.

Can you expand on that?

I agree You are the company you keep. Especially for the young and impressionable.

That's why I'm rooting for Ethiopia to develop instead of hoping it stumbles.

I don't wish for Ethiopia destruction (as long as they give Ogaden back) I just think that we should keep them at bay and at least have some behind the scene influence.

Once we see the short midgets we use to bully do much better than us is when we start taking things seriously.

They are already doing better than us and are even more respected then us. Somalis don't care and are too comfortable and that is our main problem sxb our mentality. Our country is literally falling apart and has been in civil war for 30 yrs and there have been no improvements. I believe once we get our minds on track and undo the damage that has been done then we will go on to better things.

However even if there's the public sentiment to improve we still have to remove those old farts in charge who still live in the old world.

You don't realise how much I hate those odaayals who are in charge:mad:

Thank you. But truth be told women in Somalia are not valued as politicians. Do you think Somali women would be able to hold office in Somalia? No, these dumb odayaal would probably become instant Muslims and refer to pages and claim that women are not meant to be leaders, as if they have ever achieved anything. I wish Somalis stopped judging by superficial things and started judging based on valuable qualities, especially when it comes to leadership back home. But this is another consequence of ignorance, they either don't see or don't care about the pros of further integrating females into society.

We just brush these racists posters off like they're the minority and carry on living in our own bubbles.

In reality 90% of the world sees our country as the bottom of the bottom.

Even with this being the general opinion globally we don't really internalize it.

It's gone beyond superiority complex/ pride. It's more like a defence mechanism now lol.

Have you seen GOT? In GOT they have a small council with like "Masters" of different fields. One would be "the master of coins" the other "master of war" and so on. These masters would be specially appointed by the ruler and they would be the "head" of respective field. Very similar to what you are saying. There should be a research group who maps Somalia out and locate all the important locations and opportunities.

Yupp, Somalis Live in a bubble even I use to live in this bubble. Bursting this bubble and facing reality was one of the scariest but freeing things I have experienced. It made me have a more realistic approach. I think if Somalis were more intuned with the world they would perhaps be more inclined to fix the issues we are facing.

We don't need all of us to change to fix Somalia.

The advanced countries were built by a minority and it'll be the same with Somalia.

We just need the goverment to recognize property, land rights and create laws for commercial activities.

Once a small entrepreneurial minority starts building cool stuff in Somalia their neighbors will finally get interested.

That's the solution that's the most feasible imo.

Big large populist movements or government development progrsms would just fall flat on their faces or get eaten from within due to corruption.
