Women have recourse in the west and can report it. This is not the case in eastern countries. Try reporting a rape there. You will be dissuaded by family members and friends to report it due to the shame involved. If you accuse someone of a higher status than you, good luck as you yourself might be arrested for doing so. You can rape with impunity in Somalia unless a journalist reports on that 1 in a 1000th rape and you were that person. Then people will act like they're doing their jobs and show faux outrage. And they might even be taken out of jail a year later or something because of strong clan connections.

Somalia has fake laws and are not even enforced. The rare chance it is, it depends on the whims and emotions of the authorities. What is common is revenge killings, especially the bush. That is the only recourse for many.
There is no hope for Somalia when even the young diaspora are in the denial stage. I have been to Somalia multiple times and have seen how morally bankrupt that place is (in the most peaceful parts too). They rob their own mothers' lands there and falsify land documents and bribe government officials to do so. Many women have been raped, even children and nothing is done. You don't have a damn clue. This is a country that welcomes their war criminals when they touch down at their airports and throw popcorn at them.
It's too bad 99% of Somalis think exactly like you and nothing will change.
