Also the chances of Somalis abroad outnumbering Somalis back home is nil - the max number of Somalis abroad has to be a million at the very most, and even that's really pushing it.

How out of date though, this estimate is from 2016 unless the population tripled in one year its still pretty low. Probably around 14.7 million by now.

What i find shocking is that some cities have a higher population than our country.

My question is - how effectively was this census performed, then, if at all?
The government doesn't have the need to hire people to go around knocking on doors for census data. How many small villages and tuulos have been missed out, that are difficult to get to?
Even if this census is out of date, I imagine that it's far from accurate.

They do, Somalia has one of the highest birth rates in the world. A low population density just means that there’s a lot of empty land, or land that’s sparsely populated.

It’s like if you had a large country with a large population but everyone lived in one city. Because nobody lives in other parts of that country, the population density would be low, if that makes sense

It is not so bad when you compare it to some other sub saharan countries.

These countries are each almost twice the size of Somalia and yet some like Chad has a smaller population than Somalia.

lol your crazy. In dubai, oman and yemen there is a million Somalis. South africa zambia uganda. Kenya has 3 million somalis. Usa has 200 thousand. Plus uk canada Scandinavia. Come on bro

I don't see Kenya as counting, since the vast bulk of Somalis there aren't really on foreign land, not really.

The population of Somalis in UAE is not greater than 70,000 It is probably around 50,000 And many Somalis are fleeing yemen and before the war, I dont think the somali populaton was greater than 300,000.

Somalia's population is getting up there. It will reach 15 million next year. Our population is growing at 3% per year!
I have no idea where any Somali gets the idea that Somalia is underpopulated. Our country is very over populated, everything north of Beledweyne is semi desert or actual desert. We are quickly outstripping the meager natural resources we have.

Do you know what population growth of more than 3% means? It means that your economy has to grow at more than 3% a year just to maintain your current per capita income.
