Young men seem to be more driven to have sex than their female counterparts (generally). I presume after the first 6 months to 2 years the fog of infatuation lifts and companionate (less passion more friendship) love takes its place. This is to create some sort of stable emotional atmosphere for the next stage which is more often than not, children. Eventually after being married long enough they just start to be like a family member.

Also you are still rather young (under 25), so age probably isn't a factor.
