Honestly i sometimes feel like somalia isn't even represented even by other somalis are culture is slowly dying to arab culture
PS
I found this video so interesting and the lady their is sooo beautiful maybe we should try harder so we get to keep our culture

We still have a culture I wonder why some of you think being more religious is slowly dying culture. It makes no sense. You don't see people in this modern day wearing their traditional clothes on the streets! Times have moved on.

With all the cultures I have observed in the continental Africa, I have never seen a culture like Somalis have.

We tend to assimiliate in any place we go, hence strengthen our culture. Most of the diaspora immigrants don't have their cultures intact, hence westernized. SOMALIA, FIRST!!!

Somali "culture" has been rapidly replaced by salafism and arab-bootyclapism. Unfortunately, we were a nomadic people, which meant we didn't have an agricultural centre and a civilization. Even during the golden period of the middle ages, Somalis were either nomadic or live in coastal city-states that were independent. They formed no country until the mid-20th century. By that point, ojr neighbors, the xabashis had a 2000 year old civilisation. You can't compare us.

I liked when somalis had their culture they were muslim then so why do we need to wear thinks arabs do? The niqab and that shit why don't preserve our culture like the ethiopians

Because Ethiopians for the most part are gaalo and still dress like one very simple.
Ethios still wear their own cultural dresses, like this one:

Whereas Somali women have largely abandoned their cultural dress:

Many other Muslim ethnic groups still wear their cultural dress & haven't ditched it for Arab clothing.

Study Sunt Tzu’s, ‘Art of War’.
Blame gulf islam. Somalis wear long and ugly ninja jilbabs and stupid useless clothing such as the burkha (indo shereer). The population in somalia today know nothing about their history and they all wear messed up and stupid isis clothing. Not even arabs wear it! I believe that in order to preserve the culture , islam must be taught in its most simple form and not be taught in the Salafi point of view.

We still have a culture tho.

Blame the Wahabbi cancer whicj was pumped in by Saudis in the 90s. Siyaad Barre banned that strain of extremism snd knew the consequences.

We haven't abandoned it! You need to go to a Somali wedding and see for yourself. Many brides where guntino. Are you expecting God fearing somali muslim females to wear guntino outside??? I'm sorry my friend we are muslim. It shows too much skin. We wear muslim attire because WE ARE MUSLIM! As I said before people don't wear there traditional clothing outside in the day and age.

Have to disagree with you there, sis. The guntiino was worn even during the height of Somalia’s Islamic Golden Age and was worn up until the civil war. No-one had a problem with it, but the strict salafism that’s being imported into Somalia is making people believe that their OWN cultural dress is bad.

Siyaad Barre knew what he was doing when he separated the state and religion; he had built up Somalia using nationalism, which promoted culture and ethnic identity. Without culture, he knew that people would fall into an extreme form of Islam.

Well yes that's so true. Salafism has made somali females wear niqab. In all honesty I prefer Abaya and hijab.

When somalia strengthens inshallah we will have programs to promote somali culture to the youth and to people to make sure they don't forget their roots and traditional dances and clothing.
