I don’t think Amisom will leave until 2027-2030

My reasons for this belief are:
1. The Somali army is terrible outside of the 1k American trained troops and the 2.5k Turkish trained troops the rest of the army are just men in sandals.
2. The Somali government is more interested in infighting than fighting al-Shabab.
3. Unlike the Americans in Afghanistan Amisom never wants to leave.The Americans left because of domestic politics.AMISOM has no problems.
4.Amisom was meant to leave in 2017,2019,2021 every time they get a 2 year extension.Now 2023 then 2025 then 2027 ect.

It’s actually crazy when you think about it….AMISOM will have been in Somalia almost as long (18 years, best case if they leave end of 23’) as US has been in Afghanistan (20 years). That is a long long time. What a national shame.

Has been there for 23 years and isn’t going to leave anytime soon.

So at least we won’t be the longest
