My Somali is poor just like him so I’m not judging. Does anyone know how I could improve my Somali? I speak Broken Somali and can’t form proper sentences
Ngl, whenever I speak Somali to my parents, I always have that cringe feeling. Yes, my parents are fluent, thanks for the advice.I'm assuming your parents and family are fluent right? My best advice would be to stop talking in English at home. Ask for your parents to communicate with you in Somali only and you should speak in Somali to them as well. It's embarrassing at first speaking but you'll get better.
Watch Somali videos on youtube and maybe try reading a Somali article once a week. (I used to read bbc news somali to get my reading better)
1. Watch Somali riwaayads on youtube.Does anyone know how I could improve my Somali?
1. Watch Somali riwaayads on youtube.
2. Argue with people on youtube with your broken Af Somali.
3 Listen to Somali gabays and songs, write down the words you don't understand and look them up in a dictionary or ask your parents.
4. Go back home every summer.
In 10 years' time, you will master the Somali language. Trust me on this one.
People are laughing at this comment but it's actually how I managed to advance my Somali. My parents would speak a mixture to me so every time the phone rang with 252 at the beginning I would reply in all the broken Somali I could muster which gradually got better.Everytime someone from Somalia calls for remittances actually pick up and instead of being helpful argue with them.
Does anyone know how I could improve my Somali?
Yh my brothers, older sister and I can speak Somali but my little sister is different. She knows what my mums saying but can’t speak a sentence of Somali. Some people are just better at picking up languages than others. I speak fluent Somali and so does my sister. My other siblings can hardly utter a word. We grew up in the same house. So it's not the result of individual choices just a fluke of nature
Same, I speak broken Somali.@Ayubi likewise but my problem is the grammar and pronunciation (I have slight speech impediment). I know the somali words but I can’t form a sentence.
We can learn Somali together and be study buddySame, I speak broken Somali.
