Didn't you say you lived in Toronto? As you know, rent is expensive AND it is cold right now. Plus, youth/male shelters are sketch. I would advise to look for something short term, maybe living on residence or off-campus housing (if you are in school).

I must disagree respectfully with your father, as many homeless suffer from a multitude of psychological and social problems that can't be prayed away
