I almost fight in the street

Hi guys, I was alone I was walking and then I pass a bunch of madow, and there a guy confuses me for a look and starts threatening me.
It went into a mess, I insulted him and I told him to come behind the building so that we fight, people in the street got involved in the end.
For you, what is the best behavior to have in this situation?
And has this ever happened to you?

If he was alone , and you are confident , with nothing to lose , then challenge him 1v1.

But since he’s in a group , sadly most men rolling in groups won’t fight fair , his boys may jump you. Or some may use weapons like a brother here posted.

In that case, you have to humble yourself and de-escalate “no no my friend, my mind was busy, have a good day, God bless you”.
