I’ve heard turkey it’s going back to old roots

It's the opposite. They are becoming more irreligious.
Interesting but it’s funny how the Turks was happy when Sophia the famous Christian church was turned back to mosque.
I thought they was going back islam or they hated the Greeks

There are many polls on this, even a Turkish poll.
I believe as the world shifts into a multi-polar world people are gonna connate secularism with modernity(not in the ideological use of the word but the economic and technological)

Erdogan won’t be re-elected. His main competitor is a Kemalist who wants further integration with Europe.

I can’t comment on religious attitudes within Turkey. For the most part they are just “cultural” Muslims. The Islamist factions within Turkey are the biggest crybabies though

I made a thread about this a while back, Turkish youth are becoming more and more atheist.

Hopefully Somalis will follow in their footsteps. 🤞
Nope and inshallah somali turns into 100% powerful Islamic country

Might just ask my Turkish friend what’s going on turkey and the youth opinion. One thing I noticed is that turkey has many Greek and others immigrants who are pushing turkey to be fully European and leave religion but the actual Turks opinions seems mix who knows really

Wrong. This is the latest survey out of Turkey.

New Faith Survey in Türkiye: Strong Religious Devotion Despite Decades of Secularism

So the identity that most Turks feel the greatest proximity to and identify the most with is their Muslim identity.

Furthermore, 80% describe their degree of proximity with their Muslim identity as the highest, whereas it’s 55% with the next one, which is their nation. That’s a difference of 25%.

This is quite a significant number when you consider that the subsequent identity categories only differ by a few percent thereafter.

Another statistic that deserves some attention is the fact that the percentage of Turks identifying with Islamism and Kemalism is very similar (53%). Most would probably have assumed that the Kemalist identity would be much higher than the Islamist identity.

It also means that, in a way, nationalism within Türkiye is becoming “post-Kemalist.”

Even Muslims who sin day in and day out observe Ramadan. Not a great measure of piety

Idealism vs praxis. Everyone likes to think of themselves as a good Muslim/Christian/Jew and when pressed on it will say they are. Actions speak louder than words however

Right, so we should ignore the recent report on religious trends in Turkey and take a Christian's baseless opinion on the matter instead?
