Hyksos AE discovery

Apparently the Hyksos were a immigrant group that took power from inside Egypt during the rule of incompetent Pharaoh's and were not invaders as was once believed by Egyptologists. They were Asiatic in origin but had immigrated and lived in Egypt for quite some time.

So what exactly happened. Did they gain power and invade? Did they take over the politics of Egypt?
