Humor is an excellent way for you to normalize a certain attitude, and then for you to introduce that attitude unironically later on, and have people more receptive to it be because you joked about it so much.

It desensitizes people in the wrong type of way. If I say that black people are genetically intellectually inferior to white people, what it desensitizes you to is that idea.

Desensitizing people to certain topics is not the best way to approach it, because you do want people to have visceral reactions to some topics.

For example, the 68 IQ joke has been overused here, and we all used it as a joke. I bet people on Sspot and the regular lurkers are more receptive to believe that we are intellectually inferior than other groups than f.ex a random Somali who never spends time on the internet.

It's like crypto-fascism. Richard Spencer a neo-nazi white supremacist who work diligently to create a race realist world often says to his listeners that they should use jokes to normalize things, to "Hide your power level," and don't say you're an actual Nazi. A good example of this is how the Alt-right appropriated Pepe the Frog.

This advice will probably fly over people heads because it's boring to be aware, so do what you want.:mjlol:

You spend too much time on LeftTube, lol. Who'd you get that argument from? Shaun? The Hbomberguy? PhilosophyTube? ContraPoints?

On the serious note, though, of course. It's actually shocking to hear people so ignorant as to argue and say: "Jokes are just jokes! Stop taking them so seriously!" When you laugh at ignorant racist jokes, what does that say about you? That you somehow believe them to be true?

I remember when I was younger I use to watch South Park a lot - I was actually addicted. And if you know anything about South Park, you'll know just how vehemently the writers Trey Parker and Matt Stone believe in the ideology of "Jokes are just jokes!" Anyways, I recall that there was this running gag in the show of poking fun at one of the show's only Jewish kids, Kyle Broflovski, for being Jewish. That's it - that's the joke. He's a Jew. Haha. Keep in mind, before this, I never had any problems with Jewish people. Yet the normalization of anti-Semitic bigotry on the show programmed within me these sort of stereotypes against the Jewish people (blah blah Jews want to steal your money blah blah they can't be trusted types) that I feel has permanently ruined my image of the Jewish people So yeah, jokes aren't just jokes; jokes are real and they can cause real impacts, whether one chooses to acknowledge or deny that it's is up to them.

I didn't get this argument from LeftTube, though I subscribe to those type of channels.

Isn't one of the creators of South Park a Jew? :mjlol:

Nah, not a real one. He doesn't practice or anything.
That's not how it works. Jews are an ethnoreligious group. If you have a Jewish matrilineal descent, then you're automatically a Jew. I think Jews are the biggest non-religious people in the US, but they are still considered Jews.

Actually, that's not the case.

When it comes to religion, they inherit it through the Mother. Whereas, the Ethnic Jewish/Hebrew identity is inherited through the Father. Just like any other Ethnic group from the Middle-East, they trace their ethnic lineage paternally through their Tribes, for the Jews it's the 12 Tribes of Israel/Prophet Jacob(AS).

Are you sure about this?

"According to halakha, a Jew by birth must be born to a Jewish mother. Halakha states that the acceptance of the principles and practices of Judaism does not make a person a Jew. However, those born Jewish do not lose that status because they cease to be observant Jews, even if they adopt the practices of another religion.

Reform and Reconstructionist Judaism, as movements which reject the concept of halakha, often accept a child as Jewish if only the father is Jewish, provided that the child chooses to identify as Jewish. As the various varieties of Judaism differ in their conversion processes, conversions performed by more liberal denominations are not accepted by those that are less so."

The Jewish Law you quoted pertains to the religious aspect of Jewish identity on how it's inherited, which of course is through the Mother.

When it comes to the Ethnic/Tribal Jewish identity, it's passed down through the Father:
