I saw that years back and it made me chuckle; it was one of the few times that I agreed with that man.

I know, this is bizzare coming from a South Sudanese, but I dislike Belgium's history with Congo, so I'll be hypocritical.

Walloons (FR) did the colonizing and the royal family of Belgium (descendants of Leopold) are Francophones.

The Flemish (Dutch) part were a backwater before WWII, but now the fortunes flipped as the superior Germanic work ethos has prevailed over the lazy socialist Gaullish Walloons.

PS. Wallonia has the same etymology as Wales. The French part of Switzerland is also called Valais/Wallis also with the same etymology.

This Wales thing is like the Germanic equivalent of the Somali word ''gaal''. (Before Somalis switched to Islam, the word gaal meant pagan foreigner and not atheist).
