Ibn Taymiyyah said:

“Establishment of the hudud is a mercy from Allah upon His servants. The one in charge should be strongly determined to ensure that the hadd is implemented and must not suspend its application due to pity [on the criminal] in a matter concerning Allah’s deen. The intention should be that of mercy for the creation by preventing them from the munkar. The [intention should not sheerly be] for the sake of pacifying his anger and wanting to elevate above the creation.” [As-Siyaasa ash-Shar’eeyyah]

Also I find it funny people hate the idea of physical punishments but will happily send an offender to be isolated from society with violent abusive rapists for years on end and permanently ruin their record to make sure they can’t fix their life.

Thats clearly much harsher than hudud.

Why ibn tymiyah's words supersede the intelligence that God has given to everyone , this type of nonsense will make more Muslims not use critical thinking skills,
