HSM spoke in English with Egyptian president Al Sisi. Time to cancel Arabic as co-official language.

Somalia has Arabic as an official language but almost nobody including our president speaks it. Egyptians are confused,they are thinking why is an Arab league president speaking English to us?
If we are going to keep Arabic as co official then at least leaders should speak it , not fluently but the bare minimum to hold a public speech in standard Arabic.
I believe Farmaajo also didn't speak Arabic, and I never heard Siad Barre speaking it.
Only Sh. Shariif speaks Arabic to a good level cause he studied in Sudan and is a wadaad

I'm all for learning languages, but this is embarrassing. If you go to European countries they study English or French in school and most can hold a basic conversation, in Somalia nobody learns Arabic anymore in school.
I thought that Somali boomer generation likey HSM that studied in somali, Italian or English language schools would probably have basic Arabic skills like English/French in European countries. Maybe HSM knows a little but didn't want to shame himself

Not only is the holy book written in arabic but alot of the citizens In our nation descend from the Arab world .
Arabic is a beautifull language it should be mandatory for all somalis to learn that alongside English in schools

You’re sensitive. Who said anyone hates Arabs? I don’t want Somalia to be associated with Arabs or to be under Arab. Doesn’t mean I hate them. There is an anxiety that stems from Somalis who push other Somalis into Arabism who try to Arabize our history, language etc. And reduce us into merely AfroArabs/ Black Arabs. There are Somalis who D Ride Arabs, Somalis who hate arabs, but I fall under the category of level headed Somalis who don’t hate Arabs nor D Ride them or cape for them.

I get where you coming from . Some of the arab ppl may be shit laakin is beautifull language and is important for somalis to learn it .
I'm looking to learn more Arabic and start learning coastal kiswahili in the near future . You dont have to d ride any arabs to appreciate or like arabic
