They were given a mandate earlier in tbe year that expires soon, this mandate was increased for 8 more months i.e until next summer. The extension does not go beyond their agreed exit date (for now)

Arms embargo will not be lifted anytime soon. And not to be pessimistic, but Somalia is unlikely to ‘win’ over AS. Surely gain more territory, but it will not be enough to defeat them within a year.
Even HSM hope on his side, to solve their ‘differences’ through dialogue, if AS agrees to it, as the article quotes him.
‘I believe this will end in dialogue… rather than killing and maiming and chasing away’.
The only issue is that AS has no incentives to engage in peace talks. If they didn’t do it during the peak of the foreign militarization of Somalia with tens of thousands of forces, heavy weapons available, air support etc, what makes us believe that they do it will once foreigners depart from Somalia?
In fact that’s their own agenda, to make one big offensive once we are by ourselves. The only way to combat their plans is to make as much territorial gain as possible within a year, and thus rendering AS to weak to continue being united. That’s why it’s vital for us to not waste any time to whole focus on the operations the coming year, more than any other offensive seen before.

Yeah I was kind of too optimistic but I still have some kind of hope. I'm also wondering what kind of negotiations does Hsm think he can do with alkebab?

Don’t be pessimistic. I just wanted to give a more realistic viewpoint. Nevertheless, I hope that we can sustain and defend ourselves against the khawaarijs.
Regarding HSM, he doesn’t expect AS to talk with the gov’t. AS literally view us all, both politicians and civilians supporting FGS alike, as murtaads. Hence, their justification for killing civilians
HSM appears to seek as much success on the offensive operations against AS. Which is why he’s appealing for more support from international partners, including military assistance.
But if negotiations would happen, I think it’s more of accepting what AS ‘propagates’ (even though they’re a terror entity that contradicts their supposed objectives) such as implementing shariah and removing all foreign forces from the country.

They have taken lots of innocent people's life and they have destroyed lots of family making some orphans and other widows. I pray for the complete extermination of those khawarij
If it comes down to it we might have blitzkrieg into the deep south. Mobility and knowledge of the land are AS biggest strength, SNA needs to take that from them. Also we have those in our midst that aren't willing to liberate themselves and others aren't too keen to liberate people not willing to help fight. 2024 needs to be the biggest push to destroy AS. I'm talking day after day reports of villages and towns being liberated. Amnesty can be offered to AS members as some were indoctrinated as children, however leaders must be put on trial.
Imagine if we could borrrow from the IC market and fund a Turkish campaing. Give ppl a deadline to move and then burn every place down where they reside. Nacalaa we can't be living like this. It’s better there are no somali left on earth than living like this. Our ppl dying of bombs, hunger or flooding all the time. Burn it all down to the ground.
I often get moments of "we should just end it now and hit them with the Hiroshima and Nagasaki special."
But I feel like we're going to have spill a lot of blood getting that shithole. A waste of lives honestly.
