Socotra is not Somali because Somalis don't live there except maybe some people if Somali ancestry. Socotra is mostly inhabited by south Semitic Yemenis who may have some Somali or Habesha ancestry. The Jubba island on the other hand are Somali because our people live thereI think that tweet meant; just like how Socotra was sold to UAE, Somalia has now gone the same route with one of our islands (map shown in one of the pictures).

I am afraid mostly anecdotal from the locals. When my interest for the archipelago peaked a few years ago, I met with some of the Somali, and Yemeni families on the islands. In libraries in Zabid, and 3adan, there were books speaking to the history of the islands, and its earlier inhabitants - well those had since been destroyed by the bloody Emeratis and Saudis, I would think.
