How is he being naive? The embargo is being lifted to give us the upper hand in the fight President Hassan Sheikh intiated as soon as he took office. The SNA has shown progress in every aspect as well. This can't be denied.

So with your logic you want the arms embargo to stay forever. That doesn't make sense.

Even if that does happen that just means that the arms embargo will be put back on Somalia again since we will go back to a civil war. That will be detrimental for Somalia.

This is gonna be big. If this does pass and SNA and Darawiish get access to these weapons, the balance of power will change. The question is, what will happen to Somaliland and Puntland?

In the short run, not much will change.

You have remember that our budget is very tight at the moment, with little means available to buy enough sophisticated weapons to tilt the balance of monopolizaton of violence.

Well, unless the government decides to sell off national assets to raise needed funds to heavily weaponize themselves.

SL and PL therefore don’t have to worry about status quo changing, as SNA will be busy with AS in the foreseeable future.

but what effect will it have on them in the long term knowing that in time SNA will completely outgun them? i don't think they will simply standby and allow this to happen tbh

Turkey wouldn’t train entire classes of supersonic pilots without a plan in place to also supply Somalia with jet fighters, helicopters and drones. These mutual beneficial deals have already been made brother.

It’s only Somalis that don’t grasp the vast wealth that Somalia could generate or its strategic strengths but foreign powers do.

If the embargo is lifted, everything will change, the entire balance of power in East Africa will eventually shift.

It's hard to tell. But I'm assuming that the current deadlock between FGS and PL will ease, and possibly reach some form of agreement on their political differences in a near future. PL doesn't necessary constitute a 'threat' to FGS as they officially fall under the government of Somalia.

Regarding SL, as Somalia becomes more stable and the state-building process move forward, a heavy pressure will be mounted on SL. I don't believe either that SNA will use violence against them, but rather diplomatic means to force them to come back to Xamar. All they have to do is tell IC to deal directly with FGS on matters relating to SL.

Moreover, after AS, FGS/SNA will first try to disarm heavily armed individuals and (clan) militias before they move on to anything else. This in itself will take quite some time.

I didn't imply that SNA would not eventually become powerful. My point was that we have some obstacles in the way that will delay this process. Hence, very little will change in the near future, if we exclude the fighting against AS.

Firstly, we are completely dependent of foreign aid. Once we start initiating proper taxation and undergo an economic boom, then we will have more resources available to build up an army and arsenal worthy of its name.

Secondly, as long as AS is present in Somalia, all military resources will be spent on fighting them. Regardless of how costly it ends up being.
