How would Hajj and Umrah have been for pre-colonial Somalis?

Basically anytime before 1830

I assume it would have been quite easy for Somalis on the gulf of aden coast, seeing as they had close economic ties with the Arab world. I assume it would've been harder for indian Somalis as there is much distance between them and Makkah. Your thoughts?

It was very hard to go Hajj before the Hijazi railway built by the Ottomans.

A very large percentage of people would die on their journey, perhaps even most.
