How viable is marrying from back home?

I thought these types of arrangements were like 90 day fiancée trainwrecks, but I've seen a few genuinely happy couple that went this route over the last few years.

Maybe my perception is out of date?

From my personal opinion I don't think it's a bad idea. I just think the biggest issue can be wether or not it's suitable for you personally.

If you are a Somali who is lives in the west but have held onto your Langauge and culture then it maybe easier for you then a Somali that is fully westerised and doesn't have culture or speak Somali.

Another issue can the living arrangements. I'm not really fond of the living in the west while your wife lives back home and you visit her for 1-3 months of the year. However if you bring her over to the west or you move back to Somalia or Kenya etc... then it can work pretty well.


The benefit of marrying back home is that there is so many women that are just looking for a man that can provide the basics. And you as a man that can provide are much more valuable back home then in the west where women don't really want provision and can make money themselves.

Were you born and raised in Somalia? If so, it could work out. Otherwise, no.

Can you speak Af Soomali? How fluent are you at reading and writing. The people I know both women and men who married back home could speak really good Somali and were strong with their dhaqaan/deen. So it wasn't hard when they married their spouses because they had a similar mindset. You need to marry a person who takes the deen, education, and working hard seriously.

Theres 2 things to consider, are you planning on moving to somalia or staying in the west.If you plan on staying in the west do you then plan on bringing her here with you, if you do there are major challenges that come with that depending on your circumstances. Personally i would only marry from Somalia if i had access to western type dough in Somali soil, i would move there and never look back. Aside from that scenario your best option is to look for someone compatible in your locality.
