How to take care of my Baati?

I honestly love baati but it has been a struggle for me as soon as I wash it that thing turns into ishts*
What is it? Is it the washing? Should I dry clean it? What’s going on?
It also gets shorter but I think this is because I need maybe buy the baacweyna one since I am tall- so that’s fixable for me. I can’t stand it when it turns into old dirt fabric after one single wash. I tried ironing that dib help either.

It’s the fabric that baatis tend to be made of. If you put them in the washer and dryer they’ll get shorter and shorter. When I went to Jigjiga, I found that handwashing and air drying them keeps them from shrinking a lot, but I wouldn’t recommend going through that struggle

Try to get extra long baatis if you can. That way, you can get more wears out of it before it gets too short.

I alway put mine in the washer and then hang it on a rack to air dry. Works like a charm. The key is to hurguf it (shake it out) real good when it you take it out of the washer and before hanging it on a rack. Also make sure to take it out of the washer the moment it's done. The length stays about the same and doesn't get wrinkles.

You can wash them but make sure you air dry them. Never put them in the dryer.
