Sorry didn’t finish post up there. Unhygienic sewage systems in toilets and dirty water cause a considerable amount of infections and stomach viruses in Somalia. A few problems can be eliminated if there were more cleaner water, soap dispenser in all toilets and maybe more use of toilet paper. Many infants are malnourished from a nutritional perspective and they are also more prone to have stunted growth.
The average Somali male is 5'7 with subpar nutrition so I think if we got better nutrition we could get it up to at least 5'11.
My mom is about 5'8 "and is from the SR. The only other woman who is taller than her is from the Ogaden; she is about 5'11".
I haven't seen guy under 5'6, and if they aren't 5'8 or above it's mostly due to poor nutrition/junk and lack of sleep.
Lol what is this stereotype that ogadens are the tallest. Both my grandmas aren't ogaden but they are 5'10 and 6ft respectively, qabiil ain't got shit to do with height

It's not qabil but region, those who grew up with an ample supply of camel milk are more likely to be taller, it's a matter of diet.

It could be more on the Scandinavian side, not quite the Montenegrins (these people are taller than the Dutch), and Dutch, though. We're on the taller end but not the tallest. Some South Sudanese ethnic groups are genetically the tallest, so there is no point in mentioning them.
The average height of a well-eating and healthy Somali male born in the west to parents who were not starved during pregnancy is probably around 180 cm on average. I'm taller than that, but I am not exceptionally taller than the average Somali, and many are around the same height or taller, with some having an average height as well. Somalis are rarely short, though. You find Dinka lanky type much more than a short guy.
We also have to remember that height distribution can differ from one population to the next. Population height does not completely need to follow a bell curve.
Somalis have not reached their genetic potential. The Dutch have. The most optimistic projection is Dutch-like height.
A statistic was done in Hargeisa, Somaliland. The average male was 175 cm, if I recall correctly.
